You probably don't think of West Virginia when you think of going to the beach, but we do have some sandy shores on the edges of our beautiful lakes. There's one lake with an especially beautiful beach area: Cacapon Resort State Park. This is one beach that is highly underrated in West Virginia.
Cacapon Resort State Park is located on the eastern slopes of the picturesque Cacapon Mountain in Morgan County.
The park has a lodge, cabins, and plenty of things to do including hiking, horseback riding, golfing, fishing, and even geocaching. It's the perfect place for a family getaway.
Nestled in the forest area of the park is a scenic lake, which is one of the most pristine swimming holes in West Virginia.
The lake offers fishing, boating, and swimming.
The pristine sand of the beach area makes this the perfect spot to take in the sun. And kids will have a blast building sandcastles and splashing in the water. This is perhaps one of the best beaches in West Virginia.
The beach usually opens for the season on Memorial Day weekend each year and then closes for the season Labor Day weekend.
After a relaxing day at the beach, you'll be refreshed to explore the rest of the park!
The 115-acre park also has hiking, horseback riding, and sports facilities.
