This Forgotten Treehouse In Washington Is Possibly The Best Thing Ever

Washington offers unique treehouse accommodations, including an impressive one in Redmond.

Did you want a treehouse as a kid? Washington is the perfect place for them seeing as that our state is filled with so many large trees everywhere! And while some children are lucky enough to enjoy a simple structure high above an old oak tree, there are others who have more determined parents with an imagination beyond belief. With enough ambition and skill, there was even one father who created this ultimate masterpiece hidden away in Redmond - only it was completed 20 years too late, after his kids had already grown up.

What would have been every kid's dream treehouse, this abandoned project was originally designed by the coolest dad ever, Steve Rondel. Built on a broad-leafed maple tree, the unique structure is surrounded by forest right beside a small lake!

This impressive three-story building can be seen peaking behind trees in Redmond and features a look-out, numerous windows and balconies, a roof covered in moss, a moat, jetty, and a magical spiral staircase leading up from the ground!

Construction first began over 20 years ago when Steve's oldest son was only 5 years old, but it turned into a long detailed project that was never totally completed on time. Now, he hopes for grandchildren so he'll finally have an excuse to fix it up one day!

Check out the inside! It almost looks like something out of an old enchanting storybook.

This awe-inspiring structure was even featured on the cover of Pete Nelson’s book Treehouses of the World! If you're in the area, you can catch a sight of this hidden treasure at NE 73rd Way just off 148th Avenue NE next to the Grass Lawn Community Park. While it is on private property, you can still see most of the awesomeness from the nearby sidewalk!
