This 120-Year-Old Bed And Breakfast Is One Of The Most Haunted Places In Washington… And You Can Spend The Night
The Starrett House in Port Townsend is a historic Victorian mansion known for its ghostly residents and charming accommodations.
Port Townsend is known as Washington's Victorian seaport. It's charming, inviting, delightful... and totally haunted. Considering you can go on guided ghost tours here (through Twisted History Tours), it's safe to say the reported paranormal activity is more than a mere rumor. And if you want an up-close-and-personal encounter with a spirit, all you have to do is book a room at The Starrett House, a haunted bed and breakfast.
This gorgeous Victorian style mansion was built in 1899 as a labor of love by George Starrett for his wife, Ann.
George adored his wife, and he wanted a tangible way to prove his love for her.
The mansion is currently recognized by The National Historic Register as one of only three pivotal historic landmark homes in Port Townsend.
It's now privately owned, with the master suite available for private rentals on Airbnb.
Rumor has it that it's the ghost of Ann Starrett herself who haunts this place.
She's been spotted both on the staircase and through the halls.
Perhaps Ann never wanted to leave the home that was built for her, or maybe she just likes to look over everything.
Either way, you just might spot her in the hall when you book a stay here.
And, believe it or not, the spirit of Ann Starrett is not the only ghost who's been spotted here.
Guests have reported seeing the spirit of George Starrett as well, and some even claim to have spotted the Starrett's nanny in the house.
Whether or not you believe in ghosts, this mansion is still an excellent place to stay on a trip to Port Townsend.
Ann's Parlor Room has a queen bed, a private full bathroom, and a small balcony where you can sit and relax at the end of a long day.
This charming room at the mansion rents for just $167 per night, on average.
Even though this building is over 100 years old, you'll enjoy plenty of modern amenities, like WiFi.
