This Mountaintop Retreat Is a Picture-Perfect Fall Getaway Cabin in Virginia
Surrounded by beautiful national forest, this Airbnb in Luray is perfect for your next great autumn adventure.
Fall in Virginia is almost poetic in its beauty. Changing leaves, crisp air, and the promise of seasonal delights everywhere you turn make this Virginia's most celebrated season. And that's the perfect reason to plan a fall getaway in Virginia.
I'm always partial to a mountain escape, especially this time of year, so you can imagine my delight when I discovered this mountaintop retreat in Luray, Virginia. Surrounded by the trees, you'll have a panoramic view of the changing leaves during your stay. Plus, when you're ready for adventure, the mountains are just a short drive away.
Welcome to Forest Edge Retreat! This stunning, newly renovated cabin in Luray is the kind of place that seems tailor-made for fall—of course, it's just as stunning in the other months, too. But if you can plan an autumn escape to this corner of Virginia, you absolutely should! The space features three bedrooms, four beds, and two and a half baths, comfortably accommodating up to six guests (as well as pups!).
It all starts with the design. I love the elegant, modern mountain cabin feel paired with tons of natural light and windows that showcase the surrounding forest. You won't get mountain views from the cabin, but rather the feel of being completely surrounded by national forest, and the effect is similar to being in your very own secluded treehouse.
The house is stocked with everything you'll need to disconnect—a king-sized bed in the primary room, a fully operational kitchen ready to prep a gourmet meal, and smart TVs located throughout the home for a cozy movie night. At night, soak in the covered hot tub and gaze out to the forest beyond, or gather around the tale and recount your adventures.
Speaking of adventures, this is where the cabin shines. Its location is ideal for anyone looking to experience the magic of Shenandoah. Staying here, you'll be about thirty minutes from the entrance to Shenandoah National Park and just two minutes away from Shenandoah River Outfitters (float and kayak trips on the river are available until the last week of September).
Of course, there's the town of Luray, too, with its claim to fame: Luray Caverns. Explore an entire underground world, perfect for capturing the imagination of all ages. After your mountain adventures, head to Hawksbill Brewery for a specialty brew made with local hops.
Returning to your cabin, you'll be ready to unwind for the evening and plan another full day of adventures in the most fall-friendly area of Virginia. Does it get any better?
A recent review really underscores just how peaceful this cabin is: "The perfect ultimate escape. Located uphill near the river, and the last on the road—which means complete seclusion and serenity. When I stepped into the hot tub, I was only enveloped by nature—nothing but us, the trees, and 360 degrees of absolute privacy absorbing nature."
