Enjoy a Cozy Dinner Out at This Restaurant at a Hotel in Virginia

This beautifully renovated Beaux-Arts-style hotel in downtown Lynchburg offers an unforgettable fine dining experience.

From the fine linens in the guest rooms to the timeless architecture, there's something extraordinary about an upscale hotel. The Virginian Hotel in Lynchburg, Virginia certainly qualifies as such; since 1913, the Beaux-Arts style hotel has welcomed countless guests from all corners of the country (not to mention presidents and celebrities!) But this fine hotel is more than a place to stay, it's also considered one of the area's best places to dine. Whether you decide to book a few nights at the Virginian Hotel or are simply looking for an upscale dinner, you'll be so glad you stepped through these iconic doors.

There are three on-site restaurants at the Virginian Hotel, but the best place for fine dining is William & Henry. This beloved steakhouse is currently run by two restaurant operators with a combined 60 years of experience in the industry. The restaurant's name is a tribute to each of their fathers, who served in WWII. You'll find their portraits featured on the wall upon entering the space.

The menu features a traditional assortment of starters, appetizers, entrees, and desserts. There's also an entire section dedicated to steak. Whether you opt for a filet mignon, NY Strip, or ribeye, you'll find it to be cooked to perfection. You can also choose to order from a list of add-ons, including green peppercorn sauce, jumbo shrimp, or even a lobster tail. As for sides, some of the most popular orders include the crispy Brussels sprouts and potato wedges served with truffle oil and parmesan.

Your meal will also begin with a basket of bread fresh from the oven and whipped butter. It'll be a challenge not to fill up on this simple yet irresistible combination! Those who enjoy wine will be especially impressed by the drinks menu, which features an impressive selection from around the globe.

There are plenty of tempting dessert menu options, but all reviews point to the NY Cheesecake with a pecan crust. The chef, who is originally from Philadelphia but worked for several years in New York, hasn't changed his recipe in years, and you'll understand why as soon as you take your first bite.

After dinner, you might consider checking out the hotel's rooftop bar, Skyline. It has a remarkable view of downtown Lynchburg and even some fire pits for staying warm.
