Get Away From It All At This Campground On The Alpine Scenic Loop In Utah

Mt. Timpanogos Campground offers a peaceful and scenic camping experience in Utah's wilderness with fewer crowds.

Camping overnight in Utah's beautiful wilderness areas is one of the best ways to reconnect with nature and loved ones, but some of our more popular campgrounds can be pretty crowded. The Mt. Timpanogos Campground is often less crowded than others, and it's absolutely gorgeous.

Surround yourself with natural beauty at the Mt. Timpanogos Campground. You'll find it on the Alpine Loop Scenic in American Fork Canyon.

This shady little campground sits at 7,600 feet, and it's right next to the Mt. Timpanogos Wilderness Area.

With just 27 single sites, Mt. Timpanogos Campground is pretty small. Each site only allows one vehicle and up to eight people.

Campsites include picnic tables and fire pits, and the campground offers flush toilets and drinking water, but the sites are rustic and don't include electric hookups.

You'll enjoy a peaceful, quiet stay here, because RVs must be less than 20 feet long to fit into these sites. You'll be spared the loud, disruptive noise of televisions blaring from huge motorhomes. ATVs aren't allowed here, either.

Smaller groups and smaller camping trailers means that wildlife can wander through the campsites without being scared away, so keep an eye out for pretty mule deer and even an occasional moose.

Pitch your tent and set up your campground...

...then go for a hike on the Mt. Timpanogos Trailhead nearby. Enjoy the fragrant pines, pretty aspens, and vibrant wildflowers.

The views here just can't be beat! As the sun starts to set, you'll want to head back to your campsite for some dinner...

...and s'mores. Campfire s'mores and stories are the perfect end to a perfect day of camping here.
