There’s A Themed Hotel In The Middle Of Nowhere In Texas You’ll Absolutely Love

Experience a unique stay at The Cell Block, a former jail turned boutique hotel in Clifton, Texas.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to spend the night in jail? If so, you're in luck, because you can do just that here in Texas (without, you know, actually getting arrested). The small, central Texas town of Clifton, with a population of just over 3,000, has one of the neatest hotels in the state. The Cell Block served as the city jail for decades back in the times of Bonnie and Clyde before being converted into a hotel, and your stay there will be one you'll never forget.

For 40 years, The Cell Block was Clifton's city jail, primarily housing drunks and nonthreatening rough-housers (and sometimes friends of the jailers who needed a place to sleep after having one too many).

It might be a bit strange to see a boutique, upscale lobby give way to cold, uninviting cell doors, but I assure you your stay here will be enjoyable and unforgettable.

Although there is no television, there is a record player equipped with several contraband albums like Folsom Prison and San Quentin - or you can just turn the radio to a local station.

You're provided a complimentary bottle of wine - The Cell Block's own label, Tempranillo, to be exact. You can also indulge in a flask of single malt whiskey from Waco's Balcones Distillery if the harder stuff is more your style.

This is what your room will look like. Cozy, right? At least some light can enter through the tiny holes in the window!

I think it's safe to say you won't feel much like a prisoner in the bathroom. I mean, you even get your own shower! What a luxury.

On the roof, you'll find a "prison yard" complete with lounge chairs and a fire pit. Enjoy the peace and quiet of small-town Clifton at night as you gaze up at the stars.

I don't know about you, but I've never been more excited to spend the night in jail.

I'm ready to experience life on the inside. Are you?
