Embrace the Chill More Ways Than One at This Cozy Winter Getaway in Texas

Embrace winter with a stay at this cozy Airbnb in Texas.

Even though most of us prefer to use our vacation days in the summer, I’m a sucker for winter travel. Now, Texas might not be the first place you think of when you think of winter travel destinations, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some truly incredible places to stay in the winter in Texas. This rental in Texas is quite possibly one of the most unique Airbnbs in the state, and I think it’s just perfect for a winter getaway. Are you ready for your next Texas winter getaway?

Canyon is a city in Texas, located approximately 20 miles south of Amarillo in the state's Panhandle. It’s the perfect place to use as a home base to explore Palo Duro Canyon State Park, and this unique train Airbnb in Canyon, Texas, is calling your name. Climb aboard and enjoy a cozy winter getaway in a refurbished boxcar named Super Chief.

The Airbnb can sleep up to four people comfortably, though I’d argue that two is the magic number here as it seems like one of the most romantic getaways in Texas!

There is a kitchenette equipped with a coffee maker, a toaster, an electric kettle, a microwave, and one of the coolest refrigerators you’ve ever seen—its style is retro, and its color is Kelly green. There are plenty of nearby, including Green Chile Willy’s, a must-try restaurant for anyone passing through Amarillo. Or you can order the biggest steak of your life—72 ounces to be exact—at The Big Texan Steak Ranch & Brewery.

The space is tiny but mighty, and the owner has done a remarkable job decorating this boxcar. I love the windows that let in ample sunlight and allow guests to look out onto the cattle pasture. You might even have a donkey or two come up to the fence line for some pets—how sweet is that?

Speaking of incredible decor, the bathroom features exposed copper plumbing. What a nice touch! The decorative details in this Airbnb are incredible!

Outside, guests will find a gas fire pit with Adirondack chairs. Grab your favorite beverage and enjoy some of the most stunning sunsets you’ve ever seen! Once the sun sets, you’ll be treated to an even more magical show as the stars dance across the sky.

Palo Duro Canyon is just a short drive away, and it’s one of the best state parks in Texas. Known as the “Grand Canyon of Texas,” this picturesque state park offers stunning natural beauty in every direction. There are over 30 hiking trails at Palo Duro Canyon, but the Lighthouse Trail is definitely one you shouldn’t miss. The Palo Duro Canyon Caves Trail is a close second and it’s much shorter than the Lighthouse Trail.
