There’s A Little-Known Retreat In The Middle Of A Tennessee Forest And It Will Enchant You
The Isha Institute of Inner-Sciences in the Cumberland Plateau offers a peaceful and unique retreat with yoga, meditation, and more.
Hidden in the hills of the Cumberland Plateau is one of the most unique places in the United States that you will ever find. The Isha Institute of Inner-Sciences may be secluded, but that just makes visiting it all the more peaceful and relaxing. The Institute is dedicated to the well-being of all of its visitors and offers yoga, meditation, cooking classes, meals, hiking, and more! It's possibly one of the best-kept secrets in the state, and it's something that you truly have to see to believe.
The Isha Institute of Inner-Sciences is located atop the Cumberland Plateau, just outside of McMinnville.
The Mahima, the most prominent building on the campus, is one giant yoga and meditation hall. In fact, it's the largest yoga and meditation hall in the entire Western Hemisphere.
The Institute is dedicated to the complete well-being of all who visit. They offer healthy, vegetarian meals every day, all kinds of yoga and meditation classes, and other cleansing, restful services.
The area around the Institute is beautiful, too. There are multiple trails that lead to scenic bluffs, waterfalls, and unblemished forests, perfect for connecting to nature.
While the services at the Institute cost money most of the time, they do offer a free day once a month, where visitors are invited to come take yoga classes and partake in the institute's vegetarian meals.
The Institute even offers retreats where visitors are welcome to stay the night and experience all the Institute has to offer. Check out their website for more information on pricing and availability.
Ever wanted to mediate with a view like this? It's no wonder so many people come here!
The Institute is open every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and visitors are welcome to stop by the welcome center to get more information on what parts of the campus are open for visiting that day.
