You Can Rent An Entire Campground With 32 Sites In South Carolina For Just $448 Per Night
Lake Hartwell in South Carolina offers a unique camping experience with eight campgrounds managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, including the scenic Crescent Group Camp.
If there is one underrated lake in South Carolina that deserves more love, it's surely Lake Hartwell. Situated on the border of South Carolina and Georgia, Hartwell is a man-made reservoir from parts of the Savannah, Tugaloo, and Seneca rivers. It's rather large, even though it is only half the size of South Carolina's largest lake, Lake Marion. But Hartwell has something Marion doesn't: eight campgrounds alone that are managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Eight! Unfamiliar with the reputation the Corps has for their campground management? It's fantastic.
One of their campgrounds on the 962-miles of shoreline brimming Lake Hartwell is the Crescent Group Camp near Starr, South Carolina.
It juts out into Lake Hartwell like a giant ladle and has two separate group camps, one loop on each lifting rim of the spoon. The smaller of the two has ten campsites and rents for $140 a night (total for all 10 sites), while the other has 22 sites and rents for $308 a night (total for all 22 sites).
All sites can accommodate all camping preferences from tent camping to RVs. And all sites have water and electric hookups. You definitely won't be totally roughing it at Crescent!
And because the campground is located on such narrow peninsulas, that water view will be right in front of you at all times.
Just imagine waking up at your leisure to a stunning view of Lake Hartwell and...
The smell of bacon cooking on the camp stove. Does it get any better than this?
We think not!
Have a family reunion coming up? Or another gathering? Rent both loops of the Crescent Group Camp — that's 32 sites in all — for just $448 per night - and then split it 32 ways. That's a mere $14 per night per site.
You won't find another lake side campground quite like it - anywhere.
Amenities found at Crescent Group Camp include full water and electric hookups at each site, restrooms and showers, fire rings, picnic tables, playground, and picnic shelters. Learn more and make your reservation with a visit to Recreation.gov, here. Crescent Group Camp is open seasonally each year from April 1st through October 30th. Reservations can be made up to a year in advance.
