Rhode Island's state parks have officially opened back up for the year, and for that we are thankful. Most of us are ready to get out and enjoy nature, and we just happen to be entering another camping season. If you've ever gone camping at Burlingame State Park, you already know the space is enormous. Social distancing won't be a problem at this little piece of paradise.
Burlingame State Park and Campground is located in Charlestown.
This public recreation area spans a whopping 3,100 acres.
This beautiful campground has over 700 rustic campsites and 20 cabins to choose from.
There are plenty of onsite restrooms and shower facilities, so it will be a comfortable experience.
One of the top attractions at the park is the freshwater beach.
The campground surrounds Watchaug Pond, so your campsite will never be too far from the water.
The cabins here are rustic, with two bunk beds available in each one.
You'll want to bring your own air mattresses and bedding, as well as any supplies you'll need.
Most people prefer to set up their tents and campers in the rustic sites.
But step away from your group if you get the chance. You just might spot deer, rabbits, muskrat, mink, or a fox.
The park dates back to the 1930s, and it was designated a campground in 1934.
The park was named for the State Parks Commission's longtime chair, Edwin A. Burlingame. During the 1930s, it was the primary base of operations for the Rhode Island activities of the Civilian Conservation Corps.
If you enjoy camping, the Burlingame State Campground is a must-see.
Between the swimming, fishing, and hiking available, you'll sleep better than ever underneath the stars.
