You Can Sleep and Meet Farm Animals at This Airbnb in Rhode Island

If you love animals, farms, and immersive nature experiences, book your stay at the Wildflower Cottage at Bittersweet Farm.

Rhode Island is ripe with farms dotting the rural landscape, which may come as a surprise for such a small state that’s best known for its Gilded Age mansions and coastline. Growing up here, farm visits were common, whether to grab fresh mik from Wright’s Dairy Farm or apples from Jaswell’s Farm. Some of my favorite childhood memories were day trips to farms with animals we could visit. The next time I head back home to Rhode Island for a visit, I think I’ll stay at the Wildflower Cottage at Bittersweet Farm, a stunning Airbnb where guests can also meet a variety of farm animals.

Once you arrive at Wildflower Cottage at the serene 22-acre Bittersweet Farm, which happens to be one of the last farms to remain in East Greenwich, a sense of peace may wash over you. The farm’s history dates back to the 1750s when its first buildings were constructed. After the farm was purchased by the Shatkin family in 2007, extensive renovations were made, and the Wildflower Cottage was established as a vacation rental. And Bittersweet Farm is a working farm, where a variety of friendly farm animals roam. And yes, you can meet them during your stay!

As one of the farm’s original buildings, the Wildflower Cottage is a charming and historic place to spend the night. Its furniture is antique, wood beams adorn the ceilings, and the decor and wallpaper match the aesthetic while maintaining the cottage’s historic charm with a bit of a French flair. It also lends to the home's coziness.

With one bedroom and one bathroom, this cottage is as cozy as can be, and ideal for a solo retreat or a romantic couple’s getaway. Inside, is a full kitchen and a fireplace, the perfect spot to curl up in front of with a hot beverage on a cold night. Head outside, and you’ll have access to a private outdoor bathtub for a relaxing soak with views of the trees and farmland.

As one of several structures on the farm, Wildflower Cottage is located across from the art studio barn and next to where the farm animals are held. You can meet the resident llamas, horses, and even the farm's guard dogs during your overnight getaway. What could be better than spending time with animals during a peaceful farm stay in East Greenwich, Rhode Island?

During your stay at Bittersweet Farm, you’ll also have access to the private pond and a rowboat that you can take out on the water during the warmer months. If you love animals, farms, and immersive nature experiences, book your stay at the Wildflower Cottage at Bittersweet Farm on Airbnb.

The Wildflower Cottage has to be one of the best vacation rentals in Rhode Island. During your getaway to East Greenwich, spend time in one of my favorite outdoor playgrounds, Goddard Memorial State Park. Walk the trails, visit the small beach, and have a picnic. Afterwards, take a stroll downtown to peruse the local shops, grab a smoothie from Raise the Bar (one of my go-to spots), and grab dinner at any one of Main Street's excellent restaurants. I always love spending time in East Greenwich, and you will, too!
