5 Romantic Airbnbs in Oregon Perfect for a Year-Round Getaway
No matter the time of year, you and your special someone deserve an unforgettable getaway.
We've all heard that variety is the spice of life. But here's the rub: a little novelty is also a key ingredient to keep your relationship thriving. Sure, you've memorized their coffee order, can guess their opinion on an upcoming movie before the trailer ends, and you've come to accept that they'll never admit to drinking your water. Yet, somehow, even when you know someone better than they know themselves, there's still room for discovery.
Stumped on how to see your spouse in a new light? Try substituting the blue light of your respective phones for the glow of an alpine morning, a sunlit afternoon on the coast, or the cozy light of a crackling fire! A spontaneous getaway can bring out sides of each other you've never seen before, ousting you off the sofa and into the world — and who better to explore with, side by side?
Luckily, Oregon has some amazing Airbnbs that are the perfect places to jumpstart you and your special someone's next adventure as a couple. Just arrive ready to make some new memories!
1. Escape to a cottage surrounded by evergreens in Welches.
Imagine waking up to the sound of native birds in the forest, the chattering water of the Salmon River, and the slow scroll of warm sunlight across your soft, queen-sized bed. All this and more can be found at the Wee Woodland Cabin, a riverfront refuge that blends quaint charms with fashionable finishings. Work up an appetite by reaching nearby Mount Hood's breathtaking vistas, then spend your evening lingering in the barrel sauna or soaking in a hot tub beneath a canopy of stars.
2. Soak in the sunshine at a beachside home in Yachats.
Perhaps you're eager to ditch the pine needles in favor of sand between your toes. Head to The Surf House, a windswept bungalow snuggled between Heceta Head and Cape Perpetua. Everything here encourages guests outside, from the mesmerizing views of the Pacific to the outdoor hot tub — an ideal lookout point to spot wildlife or lose yourself in the ocean's ceaseless movement. And nothing tops off a day of sun-kissed beach fun better than an evening cuddled up by the fire. Rise early the following morning to do it all again, and again, and again.
3. Enjoy a slice of city life at a firehouse in Portland.
Natural beauty is all well and good, but for some travelers, a restaurant is our true natural habitat. If you and your partner are foodies, I recommend heading to my favorite area in Portland, the Northwest District. And few rentals capture the essence of the city's oldest neighborhood better than Historic NW Nob Hill Firehouse No. 17. Not only has this gem of local heritage been beautifully preserved and stylishly furnished, but it's also sandwiched between NW 23rd and 24th Ave, two of the most happening streets in town!
4. Take in a majestic view at a unique lookout tower in Terrebonne.
Is there a better excuse for cuddling than a blanket of snow outside? I doubt it. If temperatures are low, head to Central Oregon's The Cozy Lookout Tower, a one-of-a-kind sanctuary that's perfect for warming things up again. Should the weather outside be frightful, decamp indoors where the living room's windows permit jaw-dropping scenic views. Otherwise, grab your hiking boots and head outdoors. For a couple seeking solitude for two, there could be no better refuge.
5. Embrace the quirk vibes of a charming dome home in Eugene.
Welcome to The Dome, a perfect home base for wine country ramblings, marshmallow roastings, and reading that book you were gifted over the holidays. Tucked in five acres of serene woodland just outside Eugene, this charming Shire-inspired retreat will teach you the true meaning of a second breakfast, leaving you refreshed and acquainted with your spouse in "hobbit mode."
There's no better time to spice up your life with a romantic getaway. Experiencing new things with your spouse infuses your partnership with excitement — even when they know you like the back of their hand.
