Sentinel in Portland has a long history. It's actually made up of two historic buildings that were joined in 1992. They're both on the National Register of Historic Places.

The first, shown here, was completed in 1909 and was originally the Seward Hotel. Its name was later changed to the Governor Hotel in 1931.

The other building was completed in 1923 as the Elks Temple.

In 2004, the main entrance was moved from the old Seward Hotel to the Elks Temple section.

The entire hotel was renovated after it was purchased by Provenance Hotels in 2012. In 2014, it reopened as Sentinel.

It's beautiful inside and out. You'll feel welcome as soon as you enter. The staff is very friendly!

There are numerous public spaces in this hotel for guests to enjoy. The lobby is comfortable and is beautifully decorated.

The rooms are lovely, too. Even though this hotel is historic, you can expect modern spaces with exceptional amenities.

There are two restaurants on site. Jake's Grill, shown here, is a traditional American grill that's popular with guests and locals alike.

Fortune is another restaurant inside the hotel. Established elsewhere in Portland, it fit right into Sentinel as soon as it moved into this space. It offers elevated casual cuisine, and often hosts live music.

The Domaine Serene Wine Lounge Portland is another lovely place to spend time with your companions at Sentinel. It serves impressive wines from all over the world.

If you want to spend some time outdoors, you can head on up to the roof to relax on the roof deck. It offers memorable views of Portland.
