Live out your A Christmas Story dreams with a stay at Ralphie's House in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

A Christmas Story has been a classic holiday comedy film since its premiere in 1983. Starring Peter Billingsley as 9-year-old Ralphie Parker, and Melinda Dillon and Darren McGavin as his parents, the film features many iconic scenes and catchphrases that many of us remember to this day.

If you've ever wanted to live out your very own A Christmas Story dreams, check out this Airbnb in Oklahoma.

Although A Christmas Story takes place in the fictional town of Hohman, Indiana, this classic film is celebrated everywhere, including the city of Chickasha, Oklahoma. If you're a fan of this movie, then you must spend a few nights at Ralphie's House in Chickasha, Oklahoma which will take you right into some of its best scenes. With its location just six blocks from downtown, you'll be within walking distance to some of the city's best attractions including a 50-foot-tall leg lamp (more on that later).

A Christmas Story... in Oklahoma

The exterior of Ralphie's House is, of course, adorned in Christmas lights year-round. An antique car sits in the driveway, reminiscent of the timeline of this movie, which takes place in the 1940s. This Airbnb itself was built in 1930 but remodeled in 2024 in the theme of A Christmas Story. I assure you it's unlike any place you've stayed before, given all the intricate details—from the decor to the signs, there's no mistaking you're in Ralphie's House!

'Easter Eggs' for Christmas Story Fans at this Oklahoma Airbnb

The home has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, accommodating up to 10 guests. Pictured below is the Leg Lamp Bedroom complete with a queen bed, leg lamp, and a framed poster stating "Fra-gee-lay, it must be Italian," one of the most famous lines from the movie. This is my favorite quote from A Christmas Story, so I would choose this room for myself.

Other themed bedrooms include the Pontiac Bedroom with a king bed and a classic car motif, the Triple Dog Dare Bedroom with a king bed and a "Triple Dog Dare Ya" poster as a nod to another famous line in the movie, and an upstairs loft area with a queen bed, two twin beds, and a lounge area.

A Movie Inspired Rental for Families Visiting Chickasha, OK

In the upstairs lounge area, so many details reference the movie. There's an area called Ralphie's Hideout, Western film posters due to Ralphie's obsession with the Wild West, and the quote, "You'll shoot your eye out, kid!" The owners left out no details from this one-of-a-kind vacation rental in Oklahoma.

While the home has its very own leg lamp, Chickasha has its very own (and very large) leg lamp. So, why does this Oklahoma city have a 50-foot leg lamp standing on a 10-foot wooden box by the Downtown Mercantile & Visitor Center? As the story goes, longtime Chickasha resident Noland James (1913-2020) was a teacher at the OU Art School. He created a leg lamp out of a mannequin leg while working there, and it piqued the interest of a man visiting the school. The man stopped by Nolan's office many times over several weeks to figure out how it was put together.

A Larger Than Life Leg Lamp... in Chickasha, Oklahoma!

Fast-forward a few years, and that same man was involved in the production of A Christmas Story, the film that made the leg lamp famous. The Chickasha Leg Lamp is a way to remember Mr. Nolan and the possibility that the leg lamp he created inspired the one in the movie. While staying at Ralphie's House, you must head into town for photo ops in front of the Chickasha Leg Lamp.

Looking for more things to do in town? If you're in Chickasha in July, make sure you visit during the Christmas in July celebration.
