1. Hankinson Hills - Hankinson
The quiet Hankinson Hills campground is located in the very southeast corner of North Dakota. This quiet place is only reachable by dirt road and is usually nearly empty. The beautiful sandy hills that surround the campsites are great to explore. There are hiking trails and plenty of pretty views.

2. Sullys Creek Campground - Medora
Many people visit Medora to experience and camp in the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. While those campgrounds tend to get somewhat busy in the summer, there is another place you can visit for just as great camping in a quieter setting. Sullys Creek State Park is nestled right near both the national park and tourist town and its campsites are nestled right in the painted canyons.

3. Hillsboro Campground - Hillsboro
The small town of Hillsboro, North Dakota has a lovely campground that's great for RVs and campers especially. With plenty of space for even the biggest rigs, you can enjoy all the amenities you need and all in a peaceful, charming camp.

4. Fort Buford State Historic Site - Williston
Did you know that you can camp at the fascinating Fort Buford State Historic Site? This interesting spot is full of history that you can explore on boardwalk trails, and it also includes lesser-known campgrounds and picnic areas. You can see the history and enjoy a night under the stars all in one.

5. General Sibley Park - Bismarck
This gorgeous little park has lots of trees and amenities for a lovely, shady weekend of camping. There is just about everything you could need here in terms of facilities and it's nestled right alongside the Missouri River as an added bonus.

6. Lakeside Marina and Campground - Jamestown

7. Juniper Campground - Grassy Butte
This campground is rarely busy and yet it's located in one of the most gorgeous areas of North Dakota. It's part of the North Unit of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, which is a lot quieter than its southern counterpart. You can just take in the true peace and quiet of nature under the shade of the trees. Plus, the Little Missouri River is right next to it, providing incredible views.
