Now that "spooky season" is upon us, you may want to do the daring thing of visiting some haunted places. North Dakota has no shortage of spooky, allegedly haunted spots, but there is only one place like this. You can spend the night this fall at a bed and breakfast that has quite a history and a reputation for great service as well as suspicious, possibly paranormal, activity. Take a look for yourself:
This fascinating bed and breakfast can be found a bit outside of Anamoose, North Dakota. The town is tiny, with fewer than 300 residents, but full of history.
Part of that history is the Sage Hill Bed & Breakfast, a charming place that has won awards for its great service. It has also become known as a haunted place.
The building was originally built in 1928 as a school. Long after the school closed, it was purchased and renovated to become the inn it is today. The rooms used to be classrooms.
The owners are very hospitable, make fantastic food, and keep the place updated, comfortable, and perfect for any getaway - but if you ask, they will also tell you about their mysterious experiences that have earned the building its reputation.
There is a no-smoking policy in the house, but sometimes there are smells of cigar smoke in the halls coming from seemingly nowhere. People also report seeing things out of the corner of their eye and the owners report things being moved from where they originally put them.
According to the urban legends, a student and a superintendent burned to death in the school many, many years ago - and it's their restless spirits that linger here. Do you fancy a visit?
Many people have had fantastic stays at the Sage Hill Bed & Breakfast despite this history. It's open year-round and worth a visit for the charm of a country inn - and also for ghost enthusiasts wanting to experience some paranormal activity for themselves. You can learn more about it on their website.
Address: 2091 33rd Street NE, Anamoose, ND, 58710
