What Makes This North Carolina Getaway Special
A bold welcome of giant toadstools gives some indication of what's ahead. This 11-acre campground backs into the Tusquitee Ranger District of the Nantahala National Forest, inheriting its rich forests, rolling meadows, and pristine water sources, creating a sense that anything could happen here. In fact, you may just feel like Alice exploring your very own Wonderland!
After crossing the wooden bridge, storybook homes dot the whimsical landscape, including Red Queen’s Cottage, Snow White’s Cottage, and The Caretaker's Cabin. Six themed houses are available to rent that are picture-perfect both inside and out. But the entire grounds are magical — this is the kind of place where you can sip your morning coffee in a creekside swing, listening to the birdsong overhead.
What To Know Before Visiting
This campground features three tent-only sites, five RV sites, and seven unique lodging options in the form of tiny-home-sized cabins. This campground is perfect for families; it's pet-friendly and consistently rated among the very best campgrounds in North Carolina. If you're not sure which lodging is best for you, the cabins really play into the imaginative fun.
Alice's White Bunny Cottage comfortably sleeps up to four. Upstairs is a cozy loft with a queen-sized bed and a queen couch bed. Complete with heat and air, the kitchen is fully stocked with modern appliances. The Midknight Bus also sleeps up to four in one king-sized bed and two twins. From the wooden door with interesting hinges to textured, vivid wallcoverings and wild staircases, this structure is an artist's dream. The features in each individual cabin give an idea of the craftsmanship throughout the rest of this delightful space.
Campers will also find five lovely RV slips located along a certified trout creek. Booking one of these includes access to a picnic table, water, power, and a dump station. And while the sites and cabins are impressive, you'll likely be spending most of your time out and about. The grounds offer tons of imaginative fun, atypical of other campgrounds. Folks can play chess, grill out, explore the fairy garden, laze around in the hammocks, and just take life easy for a while. After all — isn't that why we're camping in the first place?
