Book This Dreamy Campsite Along North Carolina’s Lee Baysden Pond and You Won’t Be Disappointed
The whole family (even the dog!) will love this waterfront campground in North Carolina with kayak rentals, great fishing, and more.
I know you’re wondering where Lee Baysden Pond is. You’ll find it in Chinquapin, an unincorporated community in Duplin County. While it may not sound like a road trip-worthy adventure right now, there’s an incredible campground here that the whole family will enjoy. This campground in North Carolina is quickly becoming one of the most popular campgrounds in the state, and it’s just the ticket for a nature-driven weekend getaway. Let's check it out:
Welcome to JCO Campground at Lee Baysden Pond, an 80-acre campground in North Carolina that’s designed for families to enjoy a relaxing weekend surrounded by nature. Despite its remote location, it’s within 40 miles of Cliffs of the Neuse State Park and Hammocks Beach State Park, one of the best places to find seashells in North Carolina.
The 22-acre pond has a fascinating history that dates back to the 1700s. The campground provides daily fishing passes and kayak rentals for folks who want to try their hand at some of the best bass fishing around. If you forgot your tackle box, just swing by the camp store to pick up some last-minute gear. There are a few different ponds here, actually!
There are plenty of ways to enjoy the water. Rent a kayak and paddle out to explore the area from an entirely new perspective! There is a floating dock you can paddle out to and go swimming, too.
What I love most about this campground in North Carolina is the many camping options available. There are eight RV sites (30/50 amp + water), 13 tent sites, and even a couple of cabins.
The A-frame Cabin is the perfect place for a couple’s retreat, and includes canoe and fishing passes for your stay.
The newest addition to this North Carolina campground is the floating cabin. Sitting directly over the water, this cabin comes with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a covered front porch, a hammock, and chairs.
This is absolutely where you would find me every morning. Relaxing in that hammock with a book and my coffee. Pure perfection!
At the end of the day, unwind by the campfire. That’s always my favorite part of camping. Bring some marshmallows to roast and watch the sunset over the water. Then, once night falls, turn your gaze to the sky and do some stargazing. Sounds like the perfect weekend getaway, right?
