Sleep under the stars and play with cute mini animals at this unique glampground in New Mexico. It will be a stay to remember.
Whenever I travel, I always choose a destination offering something new or interesting, and if you’re anything like me, look no further than Manzano Mountain Retreat in Torreon, New Mexico. This unique glampground in New Mexico is located on an apple orchard, with friendly barnyard animals, including adorable Highland cows and mini donkeys. Whether you simply need a peaceful escape or you’re obsessed with mini animals like I am, you’ll for sure remember your stay at this five-star Airbnb retreat.
Torreon, New Mexico, is a quiet, rural town with approximately 600 residents. And though it’s not a buzzing hub like nearby Albuquerque, the community has a lot going for it. People travel here (yes, on purpose) to escape their busy lives for something low-key and simple.
That’s what you’ll find when you sleep in this cozy, glamping mountain tent at Manzano Mountain Retreat. This cute little cabin is perfect for two, or you can also book multiple cabins for a fun family reunion or company retreat. Or, bring your RV and camp in one of the pet-friendly spots. This might just be one of the best glamping experiences in New Mexico.
Why This Unique Glampground in New Mexico Stands Out
The glamping tent is spacious, comfy, and perfect for a night under the stars. Between its location at the foothills of the Manzano Mountains, the apple farm, the barnyard animals, the on-site dining, fitness center, seasonal pool, volleyball court, and more, you really could spend an entire week here. You’ll be lucky if you find another unique glampground in New Mexico with these extra perks.
On occasion, the Manzano Mountain Retreat hosts events throughout the year, including festivals and weddings. If apple cider and donuts are your thing, consider booking during autumn harvest, but the glampground is great all year long.
What to Expect From This One-of-a-Kind Experience
The highlight of your trip will be meeting the adorable farm animals at this one-of-a-kind retreat in New Mexico. They include Scottish Highland cows, horses, mini donkeys, chickens, and more. I know you’ll want to take pictures of the friendly barnyard pals, just be sure to follow the rules during your stay. On nice days, the pond would be a great spot to sit and have a picnic or relax with your favorite book.
More than that, I like that there is an on-site restaurant to grab a bite to eat. This is a great perk, especially if you would rather not cook while you’re here. You can also stop in at the mercantile and gift shop to pick up goodies and handmade items to remember your time at the glampground.
Want to stretch your legs? The 140-acre property features hiking trails right at your doorstep. And the hosts will gladly give you a private tour of the orchard and the property. Additionally, you’ll have access to a well-equipped fitness center for folks who don’t want to miss their workout routine.
Of course, you can always visit nearby attractions or take a day trip to Albuquerque. Just 10 miles away, you can check out one of New Mexico’s underrated state parks, Manzano Mountains State Park, for hiking, stargazing, picnicking, and wildlife viewing. But to be honest, you’ll find plenty to keep you busy on the apple ranch.
Who This Stay Is Perfect For
Kids will absolutely love staying at Manzano Mountain Retreat, or it’s great for animal lovers like me who want to meet and pet mini donkeys and Highland cows. The glampground is also popular for large family reunions and corporate retreats. The cabin itself can fit a small family of four, but couples will find it perfect for two. Or I would even book this glamping tent for a solo trip in the area. You can’t beat sleeping under the twinkling stars tucked away in the mountains of New Mexico.
In addition to the activities and perks, guests will have everything they need for a comfy stay. Amenities for the tent include a queen bed, bunk beds, a kitchenette, and a fire pit. Keep in mind, you’ll be tucked away in the mountains, so Wi-Fi might be limited, and the tent doesn’t have a TV, but with so much to do, chances are, you won’t miss it.
So, when you want to trade your busy schedule for peaceful days in the mountains, Manzano Mountain Retreat is worth the trip. Book this cozy, glamping mountain tent that’s the perfect size for a quick weekend getaway. The friendly mini Highlands and donkeys, along with the scenic countryside, will remind you that the simpler things in life are always the most memorable.
While you’re here, get to know the area by planning one (or two) of these day trips from Albuquerque. They include national monuments, historical sites, wildlife parks, small towns, and more.
