Soak Away Your Stress at These 8 New Mexico Hot Springs Hotels

Discover the best hot springs resorts in New Mexico, from historic lodges to Japanese-style spas, perfect for a relaxing vacation.

The only thing better than soaking in a hot spring is staying at New Mexico hot springs resorts. For many, the idea of rolling out of bed each vacation day and sliding into geothermal waters is the definition of bliss. Fortunately, there are many hot springs in New Mexico so let's find you a hot springs hotel in order to turn this dream into a reality.

The town of New Mexico, which has the largest concentration of hot springs hotels, is called Truth or Consequence. It was originally named Hot Springs. There are oodles - a highly precise measurement - of hot springs day spas and hotels there, which is why establishments in this town earned the first four spots on this list.

1. Fire Water Lodge, Truth or Consequences

The rooms at Firewater Lodge have a cozy southwestern style about them. Most come with their own hot springs mineral tub (the one pictured belongs to the Eucalyptus Suite). The water temperatures here range from 106°F to 110°F. Book your accommodations and services at one of the best outdoor hot springs in New Mexico on the Fire Water Lodge website.

2. Riverbend Hot Springs, Truth or Consequences

You can’t beat the location of this hot springs hotel, which is on the banks of the Rio Grande. From the outdoor soaking tubs, enjoy spectacular views of the river and Turtleback Mountain. Considered one of the best hot springs in New Mexico, you can book your experience on the Riverbend Hot Springs website.

3. Sierra Grande Lodge and Spa, Truth or Consequences

If you like historic properties, this is the hot springs hotel in New Mexico for you. Built in 1929, this building is on the National Register of Historic Places. The rooms are equipped with soaking tubs and, if you crank a steampunk-type wheel, hot mineral water gushes out of the wall. Overnight stays also include a soak in one of the hotel’s more ornate tubs (pictured). Other amenities include an on-site restaurant and spa. You can book your stay through Expedia.

4. Blackstone, Truth or Consequences

Guests at this hotel enjoy soaks in custom tubs. The rooms are homey and themed and there’s a lovely courtyard for relaxing. Book your stay at these incredibly relaxing hot springs on the Blackstone Hot Spring Lodging website.

5. Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort and Spa, Ojo Caliente

This spa is more than 140 years old. It's unique because it is the only hot springs resort in the world to offer four different types of mineral water: soda, arsenic, iron, and lithia. Ojo Caliente also has a mud pool and three private soaking areas that you can rent. The resort boasts an on-site restaurant, lounge, and wine bar. Accommodations here range from RV and camping spots to suites and cottages. Here's why we love this hot springs hotel in New Mexico!

6. Faywood Hot Springs, Silver City

The geothermal water at Faywood Hot Springs ranges in temperature from 100°F to 110°F. The developed pools here are divided into two sections, one of which is clothing optional. As you can see from the cabins, this resort retains a charming rustic feel. In addition to cabins, guests can stay in RV and camping spots as well.

7. Wilderness Lodge, Gila Hot Springs

Although Wilderness Lodge used to be a B&B, you can now only stay here if you rent the entire thing - the lodge sleeps 16. Next time there’s a special occasion, gather a group of friends and enjoy your very own hot springs resort. The accommodations are one of a kind. The 100+-year-old lodge was originally used as a schoolhouse before it was dismantled and reassembled in Gila Hot Springs! Visit the Gila Hot Springs website for more.

8. Ten Thousand Waves Japanese Spa and Resort, Santa Fe

Technically, the water at Ten Thousand Waves is highly mineralized well water that is then heated, so this isn’t a true hot springs resort. Then how come it’s on this list? Well, this Japanese-style spa offers the most divine soaking experiences you can find in New Mexico. Slip into one of the two communal hot tubs or rent any of the seven private ones — the waterfall tub is my favorite.

The complex also includes hotel rooms, a full-service spa, and a creative restaurant, which serves Japanese small plates. Visit the Ten Thousand Waves website to book your stay at one of the most luxurious hot springs in New Mexico.
