When you think of camping, the first thing that probably comes to mind is pitching a tent and roughing it in the Nevada desert. Well, what if I were to tell you that you can go camping and have a luxurious experience? Hey, it's not every day the words "camping" and "luxurious" go hand in hand. However, in this situation, camping can be the ultimate luxurious experience. This type of luxurious camping is normally referred to as "glamping."
Where would you go to experience this type of luxurious camping? Well, there are several glampgrounds in Nevada, but let's start with one that's a favorite among locals and visitors. This particular glampground is located at the top of Conrad Creek in Lamoille, within the Ruby Mountains. The glamping unit that sits on this property is an eco-friendly, solar-powered yurt.
This fully-furnished yurt can comfortably accommodate four to five guests. However, two additional fully-insulated weather port structures are located next to the yurt that can accommodate up to three extra guests. The yurt and the additional weather ports have solar-powered electricity and power outlets. It also includes a propane stove with dual burners for cooking, and there's no need to bring along your pots and pans because all necessary cookware and tableware will be provided. For colder nights, a propane fireplace will also be provided.
The main activity you'll experience on your glamping trip is skiing. While packing for your trip, don't forget to include the following items: a 20 to 30 liter ski touring backpack (due to hazmat regulations, no compressed air), a ski tour setup with boots and skins, avalanche safety equipment (a beacon and shovel probe), 1.5 to 2 liters of water capacity, a warm hat, two pairs of gloves (thick pair, thin pair), sunglasses, goggles, extra warm clothes, a sun hat, sunscreen, food and a sleeping bag. Guides will provide group equipment, which includes a navigation kit, first aid kit, rescue kit, satellite phone and a two-way radio.
So, exactly how much will this glamping experience cost? From November 1 to April 1, the cost of the yurt is $500 per person for a four-person minimum per night with a two-night trip minimum. During the summer months, the cost of the yurt is $200 per night for up to four people with an extra $50 fee for each additional person. The daily rate includes transportation to and from the yurt by either helicopter or snowcat, lodging at the yurt and guided skiing with one of the property’s guides.
