Stay Overnight In An Old One-Room Schoolhouse Right Here In Nebraska
The Center School B&B and Museum in Arnold, Nebraska, offers a unique stay in a historic one-room schoolhouse with modern amenities and a museum.
Part of the fun of getting away on vacation is exploring new places and learning new things, and isn't it the best when you can be in Nebraska to do all of that? This lovely little B&B in central Nebraska is cute, comfortable, and even educational.
Take a trip to Arnold, a little village of fewer than 600 people in Custer County.
This is where you'll find the Center School B&B and Museum. The sweet little one-room schoolhouse was built in 1892, and generations of local kids attended classes there.
Today, the main level of the schoolhouse is a museum that tells the story of this little prairie school. It's full of authentic items from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including books, slates, and desks.
The lower level is a cozy B&B. The decor is a charming blend of vintage and modern.
The space is small - it's more or less a studio apartment in the footprint of a one-room schoolhouse.
But it manages to fit a kitchen, a bed, two sofas, bathroom, and a sitting area. There's enough room here for a family to stay; with an air mattress on the floor and the two sofas pulled out, there's plenty of space for everyone
There's a TV and DVD player so you can bring your favorite movie along for a quiet night in - or just borrow one from the cabinet.
There's no air conditioning, but this tidy little home away from home doesn't need it; since it's below ground, it stays cool all summer.
Guests at this unique B&B are invited to visit the museum upstairs during their stay. Be sure to stick around long enough in the morning for your delicious home-cooked breakfast!
Staying at the Center School B&B and Museum is an experience unlike any other that will make this a stay you'll remember forever.
