Take In The Show-Stopping Views From The Cabins In The Largest Park In Nebraska
Fort Robinson State Park offers unique lodging options and a variety of activities, making it a prime destination for family vacations in Nebraska.
If you're looking for something a little outside of the box for your next summer vacation, you'll want to see the cabins at Fort Robinson State Park just outside of Crawford. Besides being one of Nebraska's premier state parks, there are unusual lodging choices here that can accommodate the whole family - the whole extended family.
Fort Robinson State Park is on the site of what used to be a huge military fort. At 22,000 acres, it's the largest state park in Nebraska - and arguably the most beautiful.
If you'd like to extend your stay past just a day trip, there are several lodging options to choose from.
You can set up camp at one of the RV pads or primitive camping sites, but we would recommend staying in one of the former housing units.
The "cabins" are former officers' quarters and sleep from two to 20.
You can customize your experience to fit the number of people in your group. Whether you need a little space or a lot, there's a solution here.
For even larger groups, you can rent one of the group lodges. The smaller one sleeps up to 20 people while the larger one can accommodate up to 60 guests. Imagine having a family reunion and being able to fit everyone into one building every night!
All of the cabins (except for the very smallest ones) and lodges come complete with living rooms, kitchens, and bathrooms.
The decor is simple but cozy. When you choose one of these cabins for your next stay, you won't have to bring linens and cooking utensils - it's all provided.
You'll want to get out of the cabin and explore, too. This massive park is full of activities for everyone in your group. From trail rides...
...To Jeep tours over the rocky terrain...
...To stagecoach and hayrack rides, you'll always have something fun to look forward to.
There's also plenty of history to experience. The Chief Crazy Horse memorial, the Trailside Museum, and lots of historic military facilities are just waiting to be explored.
And don't forget the views. WOW. Keep your eyes peeled for the resident bison and longhorn herds, too.
Wouldn't walking out of your cabin every morning to see views like this be amazing?
