4 Trending Rentals in Minnesota That People Book on Repeat (And We See Why)
Looking for a Minnesota cabin or a unique Airbnb? Try an A-frame, a jailhouse stay, a barn stay, or a classic log cabin.
When it comes to Minnesota vacation rentals, if you can dream it, you can find it. With an abundance of Airbnb rentals running the gamut from super budget-friendly to outright outlandish, there’s no way most of us can’t find something perfect somewhere in the middle. With so much to sift through, I like to narrow the search down by seeking out A-frames, creative renovations, historic reinventions, and classic cabins. A few will undoubtedly stand out in the category of trending vacation rentals in Minnesota, also known as “Guest Favorites,” with numerous five-star reviews.
1. Northwoods A-Frame - Bagley
If getting away from the world is your goal, booking an A-frame on 40 acres of pristine Minnesota paradise is the way to go. Nestled way up north near the Mississippi Headwaters and Itasca State Park, this Minnesota Northwoods A-Frame offers a pristine and serene escape from it all. It’s surely the spot to be if you’re in the mood for a wildlife encounter, and you can expect to see fox, porcupine, deer, and maybe a bear wandering nearby. And for a place like this, a one-nighter simply won’t do, hence the three-night minimum you’ll thank yourself for later. A long weekend for up to eight guests costs just under $1,500.
2. Renovated Barn Stay - Dakota
On the opposite end of the map, you can cozy up in a renovated barn in southeastern Minnesota along the Mississippi River. At over 100 years old, it’s a spacious barn that has been reinvented into a massive living space capable of hosting 13 guests. And it feels anything but old, instead offering a modern rustic vibe with vaulted ceilings and an open-concept floor plan featuring three bedrooms, a game room, and sprawling communal spaces. The Barn is a trending vacation rental in Minnesota, situated in a quiet neighborhood, just steps from the Mississippi River, booking for around $800 per weekend.
3. Wykoff Jail Haus - Wykoff
Our next stay is also located in southern Minnesota, approximately 40 minutes south of Rochester, at one of the most unique Airbnbs in the state: inside a historic jailhouse. The Wkyoff Jail Haus makes staying the night in jail fun with themed striped beds behind bars, making an unforgettable experience for a small group to cozy up in a restored, historic 1800s brick jailhouse. It’s a Minnesota hidden gem in a tiny, rural community near caves, offering a range of water and winter activities as charming as the town itself. You can nab this experience for under $150 per night!
4. Log Cabin and a Sauna - Pine City
If it’s a classic, fuss-free cabin rental you’re after, there are plenty of trending vacation rentals in Minnesota that fall into that category. However, the only way to get this right is to find a riverside log cabin with a sauna. This tiny cabin, just one hour north of the Twin Cities near charming Pine City, is my top pick! Located on a wooded acreage next to the Snake River, summers are for swimming and fishing, and winters are for the wood stove and sauna time. It’s a cozy 550 ft of living space to snuggle with those you love the most. It rents for around $400 per weekend, which means it books out well in advance.
