You Can Sleep and Sip Wine at This Airbnb in Minnesota
You can stay in a glamping tent on a vineyard in southwestern Minnesota. It's an incredible Airbnb that offers wine tasting and dining right on site.
I am at a place in my life where I value experiences over possessions and do what I can to try and make the most out of the activities in which I partake. That's why I was so tickled to learn about a glamping opportunity here in Minnesota that combines two of my favorite activities—camping and drin... er, wine tasting—to create an elevated experience. You'll find this spot on a vineyard in southwest Minnesota, not far from Lake Shetek State Park, and if you enjoy wine, glamping, or both, it definitely belongs on your Bold North bucket list.
You'll find Painted Prairie Vineyard just a few minutes east of the charming town of Currie in southwestern Minnesota. The glamping tents are located right on the property, offering unparalleled vineyard views, and are hosted by Branch Out Glamping.
The tents are designed for an intimate couple's experience, so two is the maximum number of guests allowed. Although you'll be sleeping in a tent, you won't be uncomfortable. They're furnished with comfortable beds made up with luxe bedding, and the tents are equipped with refrigerators, as well as heating and air conditioning units.
As part of the glamping experience at Painted Prairie, you'll be just a stroll away from the tasting room, where you'll also find food on certain nights, as well as live music and camaraderie. Then, once you've had your fill, you can simply stroll back to your tent and gaze up at the stars.
While you're staying at Painted Prairie, you'll definitely want to get out and explore the area—especially in the mornings so that you can get back to the vineyard for afternoon and evening tastings. Currie is famously the gateway town for Lake Shetek State Park, which is a beautiful spot to hike, fish, and enjoy a lakeside oasis on the prairie. If you're a railway buff, you'll also want to stop by End-O-Line Railroad Park and Museum right in Currie, proper. Cars and locomotives are on display, as are some other unique, large-scale exhibits. Inside the museum, you'll learn a lot about the regional rail lines in this part of the state from its many fascinating displays.
If you prefer to measure your history in millennia rather than decades or centuries, head about 30 minutes east of the vineyard to Jeffers Petroglyphs Historic Site, where you walk among ancient carvings in a massive outcropping of pink Sioux quartzite. Some of the 5,000 petroglyphs at the site are estimated to be as old as 7,000 years. Walking among them is a truly humbling experience—one you can contemplate when you return to your tent on the prairie and ponder the vagaries of time while watching the sun slip below the prairie horizon from the deck of your tent.
Wine and glamping under the stars in Minnesota—it doesn't get much better, does it?
