5 Last-Minute Getaways In Michigan For A Fun, End-Of-Summer Retreat

Have you had a chance to take a vacation yet this summer? Don't worry, I haven't either. Even though the weather has been gorgeous outside, life seems to have a way of getting in the way sometimes, doesn't it? I've been getting the itch to go out and explore the Mitten State and I figured I wasn't the only one wanting to get away, so I put together a list of some fantastic places to stay during a last-minute trip in Michigan.

One of them even has an indoor pool!!

1. Cabin on Lake Huron - East Tawas, Michigan

This gorgeous cabin located right on the shores of Lake Huron makes for the ultimate last-minute summer trip. Sleeping up to 6 guests, this well-situated cabin is located close to the action in the small, but bustling town of East Tawas, Michigan, while being blocked from the noise of the main street - making for a peaceful beachside getaway.

This 3 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom cabin can be accessed two different ways - you can drive your car and park in the driveway of this East Tawas, Michigan rental property. The other option sounds more fun and summery, though: you can bring your boat right up to the dock and access the cabin that way.

If you don't have your own boat, no worries- kayaks come included with your rental fee. Additionally, there is a shuffleboard table indoors, and a grill and firepit outdoors. There's little chance of being bored at this last-minute summer rental in Michigan.

2. Modern Minimalist Tiny House - Sawyer, Michigan

If you're looking for a more secluded last-minute trip in Michigan, this minimalist tiny house might just fit the bill. Sleeping only two people in one bedroom and one bathroom, this gem of a Michigan vacation rental is less than half a mile from the Warren Dunes State Park Beach.

This rental property is small but mighty, featuring a queen-sized loft bed and a functional (albeit minuscule) kitchen. This cute rental makes the perfect home to come back to after spending the day enjoying the lush Michigan nature that surrounds you.

You won't even have to leave the property to enjoy nature. This peaceful rental also features an outdoor fire pit, perfect for cozying up at the end of the night, sipping a glass of wine, and recounting the pleasures of the day.

3. A-Frame with Hot Tub - Stevensville, Michigan

This adorable little A-frame cottage is perfect for the whole family. It sleeps six guests in three bedrooms and one bathroom. And, when I say that this Airbnb is perfect for a family - I mean the entire family. This vacation rental in Stevensville, Michigan is 100 percent dog-friendly, so yes, you can bring your best friend.

The backyard of this Michigan vacation home is fully fenced, giving your doggo a safe space to feel free. Other features of the incredible outdoor space include a fire pit, gas grill, picnic table, Adirondack chairs, and, most importantly, a hot tub.

This lovely a-frame cabin is in a prime Southwest Michigan location, too. It's close to a variety of breweries and wineries. Additionally, it's near both Lake Michigan and Grand Mere State Park for all those nature lovers out there.

4. Rainbow Lodge - Irons, Michigan

The rental price for this cabin is an incredible value. This true log cabin sleeps up to eight guests in two bedrooms, features a loft, two bathrooms, and is perfect for a family-sized last-minute Michigan getaway.

You'll feel like you're in a lap of luxury in this 2,500-square-foot Michigan rental. It has heated floors, an indoor fireplace, and an absolutely gorgeous kitchen.

If anyone in your family loves to fish - this is the last-minute Michigan vacation rental for you. Previous visitors reported some pretty impressive trout catches during their stay. And if fishing is not your thing, you can get your relaxation in by chilling by the rustic fire pit pictured above.

Amazing Vacation Home - Shelby Township, Michigan

Now, if you're looking to splurge on your last-minute Michigan vacation, I've found the perfect place. This incredible vacation home sleeps up to 10 guests in four bedrooms. The exterior of this home, which looks like a typical neighborhood home, does not give any hints away about the magical oasis that exists inside.

This is one of those rental homes where you'll never want to leave the property.

Inside, you'll find almost 3,500 square feet of fun. There's an arcade room with a huge selection of cabinet-style arcade games - all of which are free to play.

Additionally, every bedroom has its own television. There's also a she-shed/man cave in the well-landscaped backyard that features a 65-inch TV. Even though you're on a family vacation - everyone needs a little alone time now and then. This magnificent Michigan rental property has ample opportunities for that.

The main attraction at this hidden gem of a rental property in Michigan is the indoor pool. This saltwater swimming pool features an attached hot tub, perfect for a relaxing soak. The space also features a double-sided fireplace - perfect for enjoying a dip in the pool when it's a bit chilly in the evenings.

Luckily, taking a last-minute trip in Michigan isn't quite the same as it is in other states. Our nature is so varied that the place you vacation in might look completely different from the Mitten State City you currently live in.  At home, you might have rock-filled beaches with waves lapping at the shore. On vacation, you might find yourself near a breathtaking waterfall. In Michigan, the possibilities are endless.

We love living in Michigan and wouldn't have it any other way.
