Looking for a remote getaway that will guarantee you some peace and quiet in the forest? Not all campgrounds are created equal and the ones with hundreds of campsites available usually aren't the most peaceful ones to pitch a tent. At D.A.R. State Forest you can find a wonderfully remote campground in Massachusetts. Add this to your camping bucket list if you are looking to connect with nature without being bothered by other humans.
The D.A.R. State Forest is located in the town of Goshen. This 1,020-acre preserve was established in 1929 and offers plenty of ways to enjoy the great outdoors.
Within the acreage, visitors can enjoy wetlands, two lakes for swimming and fishing, and 15 miles of hiking trails. It's a beautiful state forest that offers plenty of peace and solitude.
Non-motorized boating is allowed on both Upper Highland Lake and Lower Highland Lake. If you have a canoe or kayak, bring it with you.
D.A.R. State Forest has 51 campsites surrounded by trees. The campground can be found on a ridge by Upper Highland Lake.
With its remote location, you may experience peace and quiet like you've never experienced before. While you may not see too many people from neighboring campsites, you'll certainly see plenty of wildlife.
The campground has a few amenities including an accessible restroom with showers, picnic tables, fire rings, grills, and food storage lockers. However, there are no hookups.
Just to be surrounded by nature and views like this are the icing on the cake at this campground!
