This Maryland Airbnb Is Like Stepping onto the Set of “The Little Mermaid”

Fairytale fans always have a favorite princess, and for me, that character is forever Ariel from The Little Mermaid. Maybe it's her yearning desire to travel to strange places beyond her home, or perhaps it is because she is a redhead like me, but either way, Ariel has had me dreaming about becoming a mermaid since childhood. Now that I am an adult, I finally have a chance to turn my dreams of living under the sea into a reality. I have recently discovered a magical Ocean City vacation rental, called the Mermaid Den, a perfect place to spend a fairytale-inspired beach vacation.

A stay at this whimsical mermaid-themed Airbnb is like stepping into a Disney movie. The two-bedroom, two-bath condo sleeps up to seven “human” guests and is the perfect spot for families, bachelorette parties, and weekend getaways. If you are mermaid-obsessed, this is the place for you!

There are ocean-themed treasures to discover in every room of the Mermaid Den. “Jellyfish” air plants, an octopus toilet paper dispenser, and a mermaid-themed gallery wall are just a few of the highlights. There is even a colorful “Under the Sea” mural that serves as a cool backdrop for snapping selfies.

When it is time to retire for the night, allow the ocean air lull you to sleep as you surround yourself in all things beachy. The master bedroom features two full beds and is decked out with mermaid wallpaper, dream catchers, and shark comforters. An attached bathroom holds even more mermaid surprises. The second bedroom is known as the “bubble room.” The owners have decorated an entire wall in a bubble pattern, making you feel as if you are sleeping underwater.

My favorite part of this unique Airbnb is the kitchen area, which is colorfully decorated in a sea of vibrant pink, purple, and turquoise hues. The sparkly epoxy countertop is like something from another world. The owners have stocked the kitchen with cooking supplies, a coffemaker (with complimentary coffee), and a double air fryer, so you are all set to cook up some delicious meals.  

And what fun is staying in a mermaid-themed rental without spending some time at the beach? Fortunately, the shore is just across the street. As a guest of the Mermaid Den, you will be able to use the home’s beach umbrella, chairs, and toys.

For more seaside fun, visit the iconic Ocean City Boardwalk, which is within walking distance of the condo. Here you will find lots of yummy food, rides, games, and nostalgic vibes. It is also a stunning place to watch the setting sun.
