The rest of the country doesn't refer to Maine as "Vacationland" for no reason. This is the best place to spend a few nights away from home! And the best part is that you don't even need to be from away to feel like you're escaping from the every day. In fact, exploring our own state is one of the best ways to get a little closer to home. And this totally unique Airbnb is a great way to do it.
Welcome to...the middle of nowhere! At least that's how it will feel when you arrive at this very special restored caboose in Carrabassett Valley.
But, of course, that's what we're looking for when we stay at a place as unique as this!
The caboose is 100 years old and comes from the Maine Central railway. It took a whopping seven years to restore it using its original features.
It still has the original cupola pot belly stove and the interior features a beautifully restored wood floor.
You'll even find cool railway lanterns and the intact airbrake with gauges. This overnight state is truly unique!
The caboose has a master bedroom along with one bunk and a couch. It also has a full kitchen and Mexican tiled shower with brass sink. This might be a former caboose, but it's a cozy place to lay your head today.
This photo features the cupola with its copper molding on the windows. This area seats 8 people and it's great for relaxing after a day on the mountain.
Perfect any time of year, this special overnight stay is worth checking out the next time you simply need to get away.
You can learn more about this restored little caboose on Airbnb.com. A night is about $199 and there's still availability for 2020. Check it out! Looking for more cool overnight opportunities here in Vacationland? There's no house in the world like this one in Maine!
