Maine is referred to as "Vacationland" for a number of reasons. From the beauty of the natural landscape to the quaint bed and breakfasts and upscale hotels that exist throughout it, there's nothing better than heading to Maine for a vacation. But those of us who are here throughout the year are especially lucky. Even more fun than visiting Maine from away is exploring different parts of the state while already living here. If you agree, check out these completely see-through domes near Acadia. They're cozy, fun and totally unique. But hurry, you'll only have a few more weeks to book in 2020.
ComfyDome Glamping in Jefferson offers the ability to get as close to nature as you can without sleeping in a tent on the ground. And if there was ever a more beautiful place to spend the night in Maine we haven't seen it!
Founded by Seth Fraser, ComfyDome is meant to offer travelers a way to explore Maine while staying close to the outdoors.
The completely see-through domes are located on 13 private acres of land which all guests have access to. And each one is made from recycled materials.
There are three different domes to choose from and each has its own unique character. You can choose to stay right on the pond, nestled in the woods, or along the hill on the property. And each one is heated, which means you can stay year-round.
Your stay comes with a comfy queen bed for two along with homemade whoopie pies, bottles of water, a bundle of firewood and a high-powered telescope for star gazing.
And there's tons to do while you're here. Each dome comes with a personal fire pit and two chairs to enjoy the fire pit grill. You'll also find solar lights to guide you. When you're not staring at the moon you can enjoy the lake and pond as well as the snowmobile trail. They even offer affordable snow shoes options which means visiting in the winter might be the most fun time of year.
But however you choose to spend your time here know that you'll be cozied up in one of the most beautiful settings in the mid-coast.
There's a full bathroom and shower in the main house, totally accessible by guests.
There's no other experience quite like this one here in Maine.
And best of all, you'll never tire of those night sky views!
ComfyDome Glamping is fairly new. While we expect that they'll spend the majority of the winter open in the future, this year they'll be shutting down in January. If you'd like to learn more and book a spot in December 2020, check out their website. Or you can visit them on Facebook. Questions? Give them a call on 207-272-9690.
Excited about glamping in Maine this year? Here's another great option. You'll find a lovely glampground at Maine Forest Yurts which is ideal for winter snuggles and relaxation.
