The world's longest cave system took millions of years to form, and there's nothing else like it. But Mammoth Cave National Park is more than a humongous, stunning cave system; the 53,000-acre park boasts 80 miles of hiking trails and the Green River, great for canoeing, kayaking, and boating. Mammoth Cave is a must-see destination in Kentucky. It makes an excellent weekend trip, but I think you'll likely want to stay longer. At Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo, visitors can see exotic animals like kangaroos, lemurs, and alligators. Dinosaur World is also a unique attraction in the area, with life-size dinosaurs and a playground.

In addition to incredible adventures above ground and below, the area also has excellent restaurants. Miss Betty's is a homey diner serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Cave City Pizza serves New York-style pizza, salads, pasta, and more.
