I didn't grow up in the outdoors (other than in my suburban Kentucky neighborhood), but over time, I have fallen in love with state and national parks, hiking, and lakes. Still, as much as I love nature, I also love running water and a pillowtop mattress. We have found the perfect campground in Kentucky for camping neophytes like myself. Soggy Bottoms Campground in Liberty, Kentucky, is an accessible campground for first-time campers.

Soggy Bottoms Campground is family-owned and operated and offers a variety of campsites. The campground accommodates travel trailers, fifth wheels, pop-up campers, camper vans, and cars. It is equipped with full hookup sites for campers. Guests can access several amenities, including a camp store and bathhouse with community restrooms and showers. New campers can rest assured that they'll have a place to shower and purchase items they forgot!

The campground has a beautiful playground for kids, with swings and slides. There is also a volleyball court where families can play a pick-up game. Additionally, guests can access picnic tables and fire pits. Doesn't this sound like the perfect setup to slow down, relax, and spend quality time with your loved ones? Pets are allowed at Soggy Bottoms Campground, so even your four-legged family members can join the fun. Please note that pets must remain on a leash.

The campground is situated along the beautiful Green River, a tributary of the Ohio River. The Green River is a whopping 384 miles long and facilitates remarkable biodiversity. The campground's proximity to the water makes it an excellent spot for fishing and kayaking. At different periods throughout the year, anglers may catch smallmouth bass, rock bass, and more. Soggy Bottoms Campground rents kayaks and tubes to guests, so there's no need to worry about bringing your own.

Soggy Bottoms Campground permits up to 12 guests at each campsite, and a host meets guests in person upon arrival. The site also regularly hosts events and activities, like softball games, kickball games, and live music. The 2025 event schedule includes fireworks on July 4, a Father's Day fish fry, a Christmas in July celebration, and a campground yard sale.
