It’s a great time of year in Kansas! Okay… maybe every time is a great time in Kansas, but still. It’s a beautiful state, and we don’t blame anyone for wanting to get away from it all. But, sometimes, it may be hard to get away for a long vacation. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t treat yourself to a weekend getaway now and then. Whether it is a rustic cabin near the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve or a charming cottage in Topeka, these featured rentals are some of the best cabins in Kansas for every budget.

Here in Kansas, many of us are not too far from farms. Even in our bigger cities, you don't have to drive very far to get to a more agricultural region of the state. If you're looking for a farm getaway, we know just the spot: Circle S Ranch and Country Inn in Lawrence, KS. This delightful bed and breakfast is both a wedding venue and one of the best farm stays in Kansas, and if you're feeling bored with city life, this might be the perfect escape! Get away for a few nights at this delightful ranch and see what it's like to live on a farm at this fun B&B.

The property here is magnificent, and it's certainly easy to see why someone would want to hold a wedding here.
Even if you're not getting married, it's a great spot for a few days away "at the farm."
The inn has 12 unique rooms spread out over three floors. Each of the floors has its own common area if you'd like to chat with other travelers, and I love how all of the rooms are so uniquely decorated.
Several of the rooms feature luxurious bathtubs that will make you forget you're on a farm.
Don't worry, though - one step outside and you'll remember why you came here! You can enjoy plenty of fun "down-on-the-farm" activities like horseback riding during your stay, and there's even a herd of longhorn cattle.
There are many fun activities for the whole family to enjoy here.
It's hard to believe this place is only 20 minutes outside of one of the state's biggest cities. It's perfect for a farm stay near Lawrence, KS.
Camping in Kansas is a popular activity, but it's not for everyone. Between the bugs, sleeping on the hard ground, and the noises, many of us would prefer something a little more luxurious. We love RVs and campers, but if you're looking for another great glamping option, consider a yurt! These round tents are larger than a traditional camping tent and provide shelter from the elements, insulation, and often, electricity. We've gathered up a few great yurts in Kansas that provide wonderful opportunities for Sunflower State glamping:

1. The Redtail Yurt: Baldwin City
The Redtail Yurt is a yurt in Baldwin City that's a perfect upgrade from camping in a tent. It's an Airbnb that's set on 95 acres of woods, with lots of trails and wildlife to enjoy. This is an off-the-grid experience with no power or running water, but there is a composting toilet and small propane heaters for use in the cold.
You'll enjoy a raised deck and double bed with sheets, plus a futon mattress. Up to four guests can stay here. Learn more or book a stay at the property's Airbnb listing.
2. Eisenhower State Park: Osage City
With more than 1,785 acres to explore, there's a lot to do at Eisenhower State Park! There are 1,000 acres of tallgrass prairie here, and when many opt to camp at this great park, they stay in a tent or camper. However, there are two yurts on site: Colt and Gaillard, both in WestPoint Campground.

These primitive cabins don't have restrooms or kitchens, but there is a nearby shower house. Both have electricity, heat, and air conditioning, plus an outdoor grill. Camp Colt is ADA accessible and has a futon double bed, plus a full-sized bed. Camp Gaillard is the same size, but has a full-sized bed, twin bunk on top, plus a double bed futon. 3. HorseThief Reservoir: Jetmore
HorseThief Reservoir has 55 campsites with hookups and an unlimited amount of primitive sites. It's a popular spot for camping and recreation, but did you know there are cabins and yurts here too? There are several yurts here, with a variety of sizes available.

The great thing about the yurts here is that there are different options depending on just how primitive you want to get. Several have no running water, but all have AC and heating units, and a few even have amenities like full kitchens and a television. For photos and more details on specific yurts, check out the HorseThief Reservoir website.
4. Acorns Resort: Milford
Acorns Resort is one of the top names in accommodations in Kansas, but not many are aware that in addition to RV sites and cabin rentals, Acorns also offers up three yurts for rent. The yurts here are quite basic, but have heating/cooling units and a comfortable bed.

The Sun & Moon Mongolian Yurt is one of the top-rated vacation rentals near Lawrence, KS. It was handmade in Mongolia and is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the simple life. There's an outhouse with a composting toilet just a few yards away, and drinking water and firewood are provided.
Note that there's no electricity, no Wi-Fi, and no running water - this is basically camping, but with more protection from the elements. You do have a wood stove for use in winter.
