Lost Island Park May Just Be The Disneyland Of Iowa Campgrounds

You don't have to travel to Florida for a Disneyland-esque experience. Lost Island Park in Waterloo, Iowa, is a fantastic place to plan a vacation. This epic Iowa destination features a KOA campground, huge waterpark, go-cart track, a mini golf course *and* an 18-hole golf course, and so much more!

The "Disneyland" of Iowa campgrounds, Lost Island Waterpark recently made USA Today's list of the 10 best waterparks in the nation!

It is open seasonally, typically from the beginning of June through the last weekend in August, but always check the hours as the park may not be open every day of the week.

The KOA campground next door has deluxe cabins, RV camping sites with all the hookups, and tent camping.

It's open May through October.

A sandy beach at the campground affords a spot to unwind and relax after a fun day full of activity, and there’s even a disc golf course.

The camping is located just behind the waterpark, which is a Polynesian themed tropical adventure land. A stay at this campground will even get you discounted tickets.

The waterpark has a free-fall waterslide perfect for thrill-seeking Iowans, a calm float down the lazy river for those who prefer to kick up their feet, and a host of rides in between these two extremes.

For some land-loving adventure for those over 10, try your hand at racing go karts or enjoy some a round of mini golf!

South Hills golf course is located nearby for some time on the greens, too.

Save a trip to the tropics and have a tropical Disneyland like experience right here in Iowa - even moreso once the 42-acre amusement theme park is added. Yes, that's right, as you may have heard, Iowa’s largest waterpark is slated to have an adjoining Lost Island Theme Park open in 2022!

While the full plans for the new amusement park have yet to be revealed, construction is well on its way and pieces and parts of adventure rides have been spotted making their way down roadways to the site. We can't wait to check it out!
