With Crackling Fires and Cozy Blankets, This Serene Cabin in Indiana Has It All

Hidden away on five stunning acres is an incredible log cabin vacation rental in Indiana that will make your winter cozy and warm. No matter how cold it gets outside (and let’s be real, it gets cold here), it’ll always be nice and toasty here in beautiful La Porte.

This cabin has three bedrooms and can sleep up to eight. Personally, I recommend it for the perfect couples’ outing – it's secluded, gorgeous, and romantic. The large TV in the living area makes for a perfect night indoors beside a crackling fire, sipping cocoa, and watching your favorite movies.

Outside, it only gets better. There’s an outdoor firepit, so if you’d rather sit in the chilly air beneath the stars, there’s that option, too. The five acres upon which the property is located are gorgeous and wooded, with plenty of trees, peace, and quiet. Walk about the grounds and admire the gardens. You’ll find an entire world of amazing things to do and see not too far away.

Just 40 minutes away is the spellbinding Indiana Dunes National Park, Indiana’s one and only national park. The views from the dunes overlooking Lake Michigan are sensational, looking more like something out of the Caribbean than somewhere in the Midwest. The water is astonishingly clear and blue, and it endlessly reflects the sky as far as the eye can see.

If you’re not up to a 40-minute drive, no problem – La Porte, Indiana, is easily one of my favorite small towns. Its population is just over 22,000 as of 2023, making it a little on the “big town” side but not quite a “city” yet. To me, it’s perfectly sized. There are many awesome things to do, including Pine Lake, Luhr County Park, and more.

Once you get back, you can relax under the stars or lounge by the fireplace. Curl up with a good book or watch a favorite movie. The fully equipped kitchen is the perfect place to prepare delicious home-cooked meals. Indulge in all your favorite comfort foods, or maybe bake up a batch of Snickerdoodle cookies for the ultimate wintery experience. If you work from home, you’ll love retiring upstairs to the office area, where you’ll find a dedicated workspace to complete everything you need.  

Then, drift off to sleep in one of the several incredibly cozy, ultra-warm beds with some of the nicest blankets you’ll ever experience. Sleep in, wake up, and seize the day – after all, there’s no way you could have done everything there is to do in one day, so a second (and third) day is entirely necessary (and recommended).
