One of the best things about Georgia is how rich the history is. Savannah is known as one of the most haunted cities in the country, which is why there are so many haunted tales pouring from this charming place. If you're a thrill seeker looking for a new adventure, or someone who loves the quaint hospitality of a bed and breakfast with a past, then this is the place for you. The creepiest bed and breakfast in the world is right here in Georgia, and it actually is quite stunning.
The city of Savannah, Georgia is one of the prettiest places in America.
Yet, as much as Savannah has charm and hospitality, there also is a dark side to the city that is oozing with hidden secrets in history.
The Foley House Inn is one of the oldest bed and breakfasts in Georgia, and also might be one of the most haunted.
Innkeeper Grant Rogers did not believe in spirits or ghosts, and yet after several years of guests complaining about the same things, Rogers had no choice but to believe.
The most talked about ghosts at The Foley Inn included the man in the top hat, who walks the garden by himself — or a little girl in the parlor who screams out during bouts of silence.
The story behind the Foley House Inn ghosts dates back to the original owner of the building.
Honoria Foley was the proud owner of the inn for many years until one night something happened that changed her life forever.
A suspicious room renter of the inn went into Honoria Foley’s bedroom and attempted to strangle her, but Ms. Foley fought back.
She hit the man over the head with a candlestick and fled to another guest’s room to get help.
It wasn’t until she returned to the bedroom that she realized the man was dead.
Out of fear of imprisonment, Ms. Foley and the guest concealed the body, and on her deathbed, she confessed to the murder.
It wasn’t until a 1989 renovation that human remains were found inside the walls, and unable to be identified were attributed to the suspicious border.
While today, the Foley House Inn flourishes as a beautiful bed and breakfast in America’s most haunted city, many people visit in order to see for themselves the type of haunted history this place holds.
