One of the most historic campgrounds in the entire country is known as Camp Chowenwaw Park in Florida.
This time-honored place clocks in at over 150-acres of land right at the mouth of Black Creek, and was established back in 1933.
What is so fascinating about this campground is that despite the decades that have passed, there are still plenty of spots throughout the park that have been kept as is.
For instance, for over 70 years the camp was operated by the Girl Scout Council of Duval County, and there are still pieces of history from that time that you can visit.
With time, Camp Chowenwaw became a public park, now featuring different hiking trails and biking trails, plus camping, cabins, fishing, swimming, and more.
You can still see the original cabins that have withstood the test of time, and spend the night!
There are various events that take place at the campground too, from a guided tour of the Historic Girl Scout Museum or a historical walking tour!
Reserve a campsite or overnight accommodations today, and enjoy one of the coolest campgrounds in all of Florida.
