This Connecticut Airbnb Has the Most Underrated Fishing Spot

Connecticut's shore may not be quite as busy during the summer as some of its neighbors, but that makes it a perfect hidden gem if you're planning a more laid-back vacation. As I visit Connecticut more and more for concerts, conventions, and attractions, one of my favorite small towns has become East Haven. Not far from New Haven, it's home to a great dining scene and some amazing shore getaways. The area is fantastic for fishing, as long as you can find a dock where you're not competing with a bunch of other vacationers! That's why I was so impressed with one Airbnb in East Haven that offers the best of everything in one spot. A massive whole-house Airbnb that sleeps ten, it offers stunning views of the Long Island Sound and great proximity to all the area's dining and attractions. This is the perfect spot for an extended summer getaway.

As soon as you approach this East Haven Airbnb, you'll be blown away—yes, that is where you're staying, and it's all yours! Only minutes from the water on foot, this massive house is basically a summer playground for up to ten people. With a full kitchen, a 70-inch TV, and fast wifi, it's easy to spend a week or more here and feel at home.

One of the things that impressed me the most about this getaway, besides the easy access to amazing fishing spots on the coast, was how bright and airy everything feels. So many rooms have three-sided windows, offering a stunning panoramic view of the water. This makes the house a particularly amazing place to watch the sunset.

The house has four bedrooms and a sofa bed, enough to easily sleep ten. All the bedrooms offer comfort and some nice decor, but the King Bed in the largest bedroom really is a stunner—imagine waking up to this view of the Long Island Sound! It's all part of the relaxing and cozy vibe of this place—it really feels like staying in a private B&B.

Of course, if you're like me, you'll want to spend plenty of time outside the house! East Haven and the nearby larger metro area are amazing places to explore, with some great food and culture. And then, of course, there's the private beach access, which is an amazing place to fish, roast marshmallows or hot dogs over the fire pit, and take in one of the most stunning views in the Nutmeg State.
