One Of The Most Scenic Campgrounds In Connecticut Is Open For Adventure Year-Round

Camping in Connecticut is a magical experience, whether you love the glamping-style adventure of relaxing in an RV or cabin or prefer to rough it in a tent. Due to the famous New England winters, many of the campgrounds here are only open during the summer and fall months, with camping seasons often running from around May to October. However, if you're willing to enjoy accommodations more on the rustic side, there are some great opportunities for year-round camping in Connecticut state parks. One of our favorite state park campgrounds is Black Rock State Park in Litchfield County, CT. This place is absolutely magnificent, with a beautiful pond, amazing hikes, and so many recreational opportunities. While the camping season runs from late April to mid-October, primitive camping without running water is available during the off-season: a grand adventure if you're into rustic year-round camping in Litchfield Hills, Connecticut!

This park is absolutely beautiful in any season.

The Litchfield Hills are one of the prettiest regions in the state, and the park's 444 acres show it off marvelously.

The park is located in Watertown and is right next to Mattatuck State Forest, resulting in a sprawling expanse of untouched land.

The campground's 78 campsites are located in various areas, with some in the woods and some in more open areas.

You'll be within easy walking distance of the beach, recreation fields, hiking trails, and a fishing pond.

Visit during the main season and you'll have amenities like bathhouses with running water and hot showers.

Camping during the off season definitely looks a bit different. The lack of running water involved in rustic camping is certainly a turn off for many.

However, if you're looking to get in touch with nature and check out incredible views like this, this is a great spot for year-round camping in the Litchfield Hills.
