This Unique Campground Near The Grand Canyon In Arizona Is Also A Cartoon-Themed Amusement Park
Raptor Ranch, near the Grand Canyon, combines a nostalgic Bedrock City experience with live bird of prey encounters and camping amenities.
If your Saturday mornings as a kid involved sugary cereal (particularly Fruity Pebbles) and cartoons, you'll love Raptor Ranch. One of the best campgrounds near the Grand Canyon, the ranch is home to Bedrock City, an iconic roadside attraction that came under new ownership in 2019. You'll see all sorts of buildings and structures that harken back to the dinosaur age, much like those from a hit cartoon series that aired in the 1960s. Bedrock City now features a campground, so you can spend the night with all your favorite characters!
After closing in 2019 due to the original owner's retirement, the future of Bedrock City was uncertain. Troy Morris and Ron Brown saved the popular roadside attraction, however, when they bought the property in 2019 and turned it into Raptor Ranch.
Just 20 minutes from the entrance to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, Raptor Ranch is a sprawling campground and ecotourism destination.
The original plan was to tear down Bedrock City to make room for the park's main attraction: encounters with live birds of prey such as hawks, falcons, owls, and eagles.
Upon realizing how much the public adored Bedrock City, the new owners elected to leave it standing.
Campground guests receive free admission to the park, while everyone else must pay a small fee. You won't regret it, though - there's so much to see here, and the quirky, cartoon-themed structures offer a heaping dose of nostalgia.
You can hop in a car with wheels made of rock...
...and visit a prehistoric post office, gas station, and other buildings you may recognize from a hit cartoon series.
Once you've had your fill of exploring, settle down for the night at the campground. There are 36 RV sites available...
...plus additional tent sites. Amenities include campfire rings, an on-site grocery store and gift shop, and more.
Guests also have access to laundry facilities...
...plus a lounge with free Wi-Fi. Even better, campers get free access to raptor flight demonstrations!
Visit the Raptor Ranch website or Facebook page for more information, such as hours for Bedrock City and camping rates.
