While there are quite a few popular and crowded campgrounds around the state, there are also plenty that will allow you to truly disconnect from the daily pressures and enjoy nature instead. 1. Clear Creek Campground: Camp Verde

This pretty place is located within the Coconino National Forest and can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents. The campground is scenic, rarely crowded, and the amenities are clean. Read more details on the Clear Creek Campground web page.

2. Alamo Canyon Primitive Campground: Ajo

3. Tuweep Campground: Grand Canyon

If you really want to get away from it all, a campground at the Grand Canyon may be the place for you. Be forewarned, though, that it is quite challenging to get here and there are no amenities, no services for gas and food, or cell service. However, if you're up for the adventure and come prepared, you can camp overlooking the Colorado River with amazing views of the sunset and sunrise each day. 4. Blue Ridge Campground: Happy Jack

Located just a few miles from Blue Ridge Reservoir, this beautiful property offers both tent and trailer camping sites from early May through late September as well as picnic tables, toilets, and drinking water. Each site includes a fire ring, picnic table, and cooking grill. There are plenty of recreational opportunities around as well including fishing, boating, and hiking. 5. Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge: Sasabe

If you've ever wanted to go camping in a national wildlife refuge, here's your chance. This spacious area is home to a wide array of wildlife including deer, mules, javelina, coyotes, and numerous bird species. The refuge has 83 primitive campsites that allow you to get as close as possible to the wildlife for the best camping in Arizona that's like no other. 6. Homolovi State Park: Winslow

When camping along the Colorado River is calling us, we head to this gorgeous state park. Offering both tent and RV camping, you can also enjoy exploring these stunning grounds in Winslow. 7. Camp Avalon Spiritual Nature Retreat: Sedona

Nestled among the red rocks of Sedona, this wide-open space focuses on "rejuvenating the mind, body, and soul." This is one of the most unique campgrounds in the state as it offers plenty of spiritual activities like yoga and tai chi. This campground has dry camping only and a few spots with electricity.
