The Alaska Airbnb With a Next-Level Hot Tub and Barrel Sauna That Redefines Cozy Season
Looking for a cozy winter getaway in Alaska? Your search is over. This quaint log cabin features both an indoor and outdoor fireplace and a barrel sauna, and it offers unparalleled views of the Northern Lights.
When you envision a cozy winter getaway in Alaska, what comes to mind? For me, it's a rustic log cabin surrounded by snow-covered trees, with great views of the Northern Lights. This charming stay in the aptly named town of North Pole checks all those boxes and also offers a barrel sauna and a fire pit for warming up on the chilliest of days.
Alaskan winters aren't for the weak, but they're decidedly more bearable when you have a cozy place to stay, and this cabin fits the bill. It's secluded enough to feel like an escape while close enough to Fairbanks for an easy day trip. Up to five guests can comfortably sleep in the cabin, with a queen-size bed and a twin bed in the upstairs loft area, an additional sofa bed downstairs, and one full bath.
The interior is charmingly rustic, featuring an earthy color scheme and lodge-style decor, such as skis and snowshoes on the walls and rugs covered with emblems of trees, moose, bears, and canoes. It's definitely not an ultra-modern cabin, but in my opinion, that's what makes it special because it offers a more authentic "Alaska" experience (don't worry—that doesn't mean you'll be "roughing it," as the hosts provide everything you need for a comfortable stay).
The spacious living area boasts a Smart TV with a DVD player, books, and board games for leisure time. You can cook meals in the well-stocked kitchen, which features all the essentials, plus a slow cooker and a dining table for six.
Every detail is worth appreciating, from the log bed to the wilderness-themed quilts perfect for snuggling up on the coldest winter nights. But as inviting as the cabin's interior may be, its outdoor amenities are what make it stand out.
A covered pavilion with a fire pit and cozy chairs lets you stay warm while enjoying the peaceful winter scenery. There's also a barrel sauna for when you need to defrost your frigid fingers and toes, or unwind after a full day of exploring Alaska's national parks or discovering all the shops, restaurants, and museums Fairbanks has to offer. Feel your muscles relax as the heat enters your pores, inviting you to soften and let go of anything that no longer serves you.
And, of course, it wouldn't be a cozy winter getaway in Alaska without chasing the Northern Lights (although, when you stay here, there's no "chasing" required since you can see them from the front yard). Bundle up, step outside, and witness the Aurora in its full glory. With the fire going, it's an experience—and a view—that will be forever etched into your memory. However, if you're interested in a group excursion, you can take a guided Northern Lights tour and connect with other enthusiasts.
