Book This Dreamy Campsite Along Alabama’s Neely Henry Lake and You Won’t Be Disappointed

This waterfront campground in Alabama is dog-friendly, kid-friendly, and the perfect spot for a relaxing weekend.

Neely Henry Lake is a beautiful lake on the Coosa River near Gadsden, Alabama. It's one of my favorite areas in Alabama, and there's a beautiful campground on this lake worthy of a weekend. Since we’re heading full speed into summer, what better way to enjoy the longer days than by spending a weekend at a waterfront campground in Alabama? Greensport RV Park & Marina is your ticket to enjoy a relaxing weekend on the water—let’s check it out:

The campground is located near Ashville, a sleepy little town about 40 miles northeast of Birmingham. It’s an easy drive up I-59. It’s the perfect spot for a little nature-driven getaway, and this dreamy waterfront campsite will quickly make you fall in love with camping. The property has been in the family since the 1800s, and it’s easily one of the most scenic campgrounds in Alabama.

There are plenty of RV and tent sites peppered along the water’s edge. Each campsite has a fire pit, a picnic table, and high-speed WiFi. Full electric, water, and sewer hookups are also available.

During your stay, you’ll have access to the bathhouse (with private showers) and laundry machines. There’s also a general store on the property where you can pick up some last-minute groceries, fishing supplies, camping supplies, propane, etc. They also sell cords of firewood, which will come in handy for evening campfires.

With a mile of shoreline, you can be sure to find the perfect waterfront campsite to call home. With the mountains in the background, it truly makes for a picturesque camping spot!

Amenities at this campground are endless. There is a boat ramp for folks who BYOB, and you can also rent a kayak/canoe from the campground to set off on your own aquatic adventure. Spend your days splashing in the pool, playing volleyball, basketball, cornhole, horseshoes, or just walking along the water’s edge! The kids will love the petting zoo and jumping pillow, too.

The family-friendly campground is also extremely pet-friendly! Not only is there a dog park, but there’s also a dog wash station! May your pup be as photogenic as this one (mine wouldn't stay still long enough for a photo as majestic as this one). The sunsets over the lake will win you over on the first night.

After watching an incredible sunset over the water, get a fire going and break out the s’mores. As the sun fades into the distance, turn your gaze to the sky and do some stargazing!

Waking up to views like this is what it’s all about, right? Right.
