Nashville has become a big ol' bustling city in recent years, but every so often its nice to turn away from the wave of coffee shops and new restaurants to remember the heart of the city. It's nice to experience our world and our home the way it once was. These photographs truly exhume the integrity of the city and give us a personal look into the heart and history the city has and has seen. You may even see a few spots that you remember!

It's a bit blurry but still wildly disconcerting to know that cannons were pointed towards city citizens.
10. Market Street in Nashville looks a bit different now than in 1850.
Perhaps that's for the best, though it's still worth a look.

This photograph is of Horace Woodroof, an inmate at the Tennessee State Prison standing in his radio shop and classroom. The photo was taken in 1954.

It's so eye-opening to see local renderings of such a historic and heartbreaking event.
