Welcome to Rhode Island, a tiny piece of paradise on the East Coast! Whether we live here or are just visiting, we can all probably agree that this beautiful New England state is brimming with both manmade and natural beauty just about everywhere we look. No matter how far we travel or how long we’re gone, we often feel that rush of warmth when we first see that sign welcoming us to Rhode Island, an oh-so-sweet reminder that we’ve returned home.
So many out-of-staters focus on Rhode Island being America’s tiniest state, but our beloved state packs a whole lot of punch into a relatively small space.
That simple Rhode Island welcome sign is the perfect way to greet those who visit a state that’s known for so many things, including its gorgeous water.
Spending time on, near, and in the water in Rhode Island, after all, is natural. Summertime means cooling off in the ocean, lakes, ponds, and hidden swimming holes.
All of that water promises gorgeous views from waterfront restaurants, inns, and towns. It also means we eat pretty well. After all, Rhode Island dishes up some of the best seafood in New England.
Rhode Island and seafood go hand-in-hand, but there’s so much more deliciousness that awaits, including such state-invented foods as hot wieners, coffee milk, and pizza strips.
To discover Rhode Island, we can set off on one of its hiking trails, visit a picturesque state park of which there are 22, or go for a scenic ride along Ocean Drive in Newport.
When we’re craving an island getaway, we don’t have far to go – just a ferry ride to Block Island and some of the most gorgeous views in the entire country from Mohegan Bluffs.
Rhode Island has so much to offer, whether we want a big city getaway or a quaint small town experience – and it all starts with that most beautiful of sights, one of the “Welcome to Rhode Island” sign locations.
