The One Thing to Do in Oklahoma Before the End of the Year

Myriad Botanical Gardens' Devon Ice Rink is now in its 13th year, and it's waiting for you in downtown Oklahoma City. This year, the rink opened on November 14th and will remain open until February 1st. However, the best time to visit is now! It's sponsored by Downtown OKC, which presents all things Downtown in December, including this rink and so much more.

There's plenty of time for you to go skating because Devon Ice Rink is open until 11 p.m. on weekends and also during the majority of days on holiday (Thanksgiving and Christmas) weeks, and even on Christmas Day. On regular weekdays, it's open from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., but on weekends and holiday weeks, it opens daily at 11 a.m.

Rates are affordable, too. General cost is $15 per person including skate rentals; if you bring your own skates, it's only $10. There's also a discount rate offered for gardens members and military of just $10 including skate rentals. If you bring a group of ten or more, and book in advance, your whole group will recieve a discount, too.

If you haven't skated before or if you bring little ones along, a penguin skating assistant can help keep them vertical on the ice. Skating is a great way to practice balance and coordination, and your kids will never forget the winter you taught them how to skate.
