These 10 Photos Of North Dakota In The 1950s Are Mesmerizing

A collection of ten nostalgic photographs from North Dakota taken over half a century ago.

Photographs are a portal into the past. They can take us back to the times before the internet and smart phones, into a time when more people spent their afternoons outdoors and took the time to stop by the post office to mail a letter to family or friends. These 10 photos were taken in North Dakota over half a century ago, so sit back, enjoy, and reminisce!

1. Buildings being moved to a new location after a flood - 1952

2. Gathering hay out in a field - 1950

3. Ferry crossing the Missouri River near Independence, ND - 1952

4. Piggly Wiggly grocery store in Fargo, ND - 1957

5. Cattle being herded into a pen in Halliday, ND - 1952

This one is a couple years shy of the 50s, but it was so interesting that I felt it deserved to be included. The train featured was built all the way back in 1910 and was retired in 1957.
