Not Many People Realize That These 5 Things Are Actually Illegal In New Hampshire

New Hampshire has several unusual laws, including prohibitions on picking up seaweed and operating machinery on Sundays.

We may be known as the "live free or die" state, but the Granite State has been around for a long time and there's a lot of history here. There have been plenty of weird laws in New Hampshire during that time, and you may be doing something illegal without even realizing it! Not surprisingly, not all of these weirdest laws in New Hampshire have come off the books. From the silly to the serious, here are a few things that not many people realize are illegal in New Hampshire.

1. Picking up seaweed off the beach.

Is there anything worse than getting to the beach and finding it covered in seaweed? But don't even think about moving the slimy stuff! Collecting seaweed off the beach in New Hampshire is actually a criminal offense. This law stems from the fact that there is actually pretty valuable stuff in all that green slime.

2. Operating machinery on a Sunday.

Cutting the grass this weekend? You better get it done on Saturday. This law is obviously a vestige from days gone by.

3. Peeing while looking up, on Sundays.

After all, we have to respect the sacred day.

4. Tapping your feet.

You may not tap your toes or otherwise keep time to the music in a cafe, tavern, or restaurant. Have some decency!

5. Checking Into a hotel under a false name.

Okay, this one makes a little more sense than most of the others. But still, don't do it!
