Minnesota has all sorts of attractions, ranging from beautiful natural sites to incredible roadside stops. And it turns out, one of its major cities seems to be attracting some of the healthiest people in America. The American Fitness Index is issued annually by the American College of Sports Medicine and the Anthem Foundation and this year, St. Paul made the top of the America’s 50 Fittest Cities list.

The ranking was based on several health factors, ranging from asthma rates to the availably of farmer’s markets and public parks.

One of the leading factors turned out to be walking. With so many gorgeous views of the city available, folks who live in the St. Paul-Minneapolis area are opting to walk outside.

The city's investment in parks also plays a critical role in drawing people outdoors.

And although this area faces some serious winter weather, St. Paul residents are more likely to bundle up and get outside anyway.

Whether it's a jog around the lake or a stroll in the woods, Minnesota residents know how to appreciate the beauty of their city in the healthiest way possible.

Cities that followed St. Paul in the ranking include Washington D.C., San Francisco, Seattle, and Boston.

What do you think about this ranking? Do you find that life in St. Paul allows for plenty of ways to enjoy the outdoors? We'd love to hear about your experiences!
